Andy’s mother’s family immigrated to Manchester, NH from
Tsaritsani, near Elassona, Greece in 1916. Andy’s mother was born in
Manchester in 1917, graduated from Manchester central High School (1936)
and the University of New Hampshire (1940) where she was a member of Chi
Omega sorority. After teaching in Farmington, NH she later entered
federal service in World War II.
Andy’s maternal grandmother was a founding member of Assumption Greek
Orthodox Church in Manchester in 1936.

Andy’s uncle, William A Vasiliou, was one of the first Greek immigrants
to graduate from the University of New Hampshire. He also served in WW
II. “Bill” Vasiliou was the first Supreme President of the
Sons of Pericles. Bill was also a member of the Order of AHEPA War
Cabinet during WW II and later an AHEPA district governor.
